MURCIA, 29 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
This morning, Saturday May 29, the Armed Forces Day 2021 was held at the Cartagena Arsenal. The event was chaired by the Admiral for Maritime Action (ALMART), Vice Admiral Juan Luis Sobrino Pérez-Crespo, accompanied by the following authorities; the President of the Regional Assembly, Alberto Castillo, the Government Delegate, José Vélez, the Rector of the University of Cartagena, Beatriz Miguel, the Councilor for Development and Infrastructure, Juan Ramon Diez and the Councilor for the Government and Infrastructure Area, Luisa Casasús and the Admiral of the Arsenal of Cartagena, Vice Admiral Pedro Luis de la Puente.
The unit Commanders and commanders of destinations of special responsibility present in Cartagena and the commanders of the units of the Armies present in the Region of Murcia also attended. Likewise, the relatives of the members of the Armed Forces who died in the act of service during the last year have been invited.
After the raising of the solemn flag, the ALMART addressed a few words to the attendees and, afterwards, a tribute was made to those who gave their lives for Spain. Finally, the force paraded in front of the authorities and the relatives of the deceased.
In the acts there has been a mixed Company formed by the Army and Air Force, the Navy and the Civil Guard. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional training exhibitions and demonstrations, which are regularly scheduled, have not been held this year.
