Soledad Ramírez, 22 years dedicated to vaccination

ZACATECAS. Originally from Zacatecas capital, Dr. Soledad Ramírez Olvera has dedicated 22 years of her working life to the Vaccination Program, four of them at the jurisdictional level and 18 as state manager of the Universal Vaccination Program of the Zacatecas Ministry of Health.

Soledad has 28 years in the health sector, which is easy to say; however, she has been a path of great challenges that she has managed to overcome, until achieving international recognition for her responsibility in vaccinating the population of Zacatecas.

He comments in this regard that the management of the Program is one of the most complicated situations that he has had to carry out, since the project has grown vertiginously in the last 15 years, where every year there are changes in the vaccination schedule.

Initially, the Vaccination Program was traditionally assigned to women, to nurses; however, he is pleased to have met the goals and managed to position the Program in the first places at the national level and internationally recognized.

Committed to her work, she communicates that vaccination, as part of disease prevention, is the activity with the greatest impact in the history of public health, since it has made it possible to control a large number of ailments that caused human losses at the time. .

Today, he adds, we can attest that with the correct implementation of a vaccine, the eradication of diseases can be achieved, such as smallpox and polio is also expected soon.

As a woman, she expresses: “We have to show ourselves that we can carry out the activities, knowing that we are in a world where it is still difficult for us to permeate society as successful professionals.”

Regarding his responsibility with the health of the population, he mentions that women are transforming Zacatecas and it will be necessary to be innovative, go further and think of strategies that manage to sensitize population groups with timely vaccination, have complete schemes and see it as how to improve health.
