Soldiers of the 106th Infantry Battalion are vaccinated

This Saturday, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) of Chihuahua carries out the vaccination of military personnel belonging to the 106th Infantry Battalion of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), stationed in Ciudad Juárez.

This is done early in the morning in the preventive medicine area of the Zone General Hospital (HGZ) No. 06, located on this northern border.

This was announced by the head of the IMSS in the state, Dr. Enrique Ureña Bogarín, who stressed that the application of this vaccine is an interinstitutional action that strengthens the joint work and collaboration between the two federal agencies, within the framework of the universality of vaccination.

He indicated that it is part of the vaccination campaign for the 2022-2023 seasonal flu season, which seeks to protect the general population by preventing infection and complications caused by this virus.

Ureña Bogarín explained that on this occasion the Institute is the headquarters and applicator of the biological, with the support of vaccinators from Sedena itself.

“We are very happy to help our military forces protect the health of their elements as they carry out their mission of defending citizens,” he said.

He also explained that the flu is a disease that spreads easily, which is caused by a virus that generally attacks the respiratory system, i.e. the nose, throat and, in some cases, the lungs.

He stressed that it is transmitted from person to person, through droplets of saliva that are expelled when one sneezes or coughs; even when shaking hands, kissing or hugging a person with a respiratory infection; also by contact with previously contaminated surfaces, such as tables, computer keyboards, sports equipment, handles, railings, telephones, handkerchiefs and cloths.

The head of the IMSS of Chihuahua recalled that the symptoms of the flu are: fever above 38°C, cough and headache, accompanied by a runny, red and stuffy nose; joint and muscle pain; diarrhea, as well as chest pain, stomach pain, when swallowing.

Therefore, he stressed that the vaccine is a good first step to protect yourself from the virus, in addition to continuing with regular hand washing with soap and water or, failing that, the use of 70% alcohol gel; sneezing etiquette, ventilation of spaces, physical exercise and balanced diet.
