César Omar González, lawyer for the soldiers accused in the Ayotzinapa case, assured this Monday that “they are not going to stop” until they release their clients, since the Undersecretariat of the Interior was the one who fabricated the case against his clients with evidence. false.
In an interview with Ciro Gómez Leyva, the lawyer explained that the accusations against the soldiers, who are still in prison, were armed with false accusations by the Government.
“This case was put together from the spheres of the Undersecretariat of the Interior, with false evidence and false messages and, until we have them loose and free of any responsibility, we are not going to stop,” he said.
Given this, González explained that he hopes that in the next few hours, that is, today, Monday, January 22, at least eight of the 14 involved will be released from prison. “They must be leaving in the next few hours, the hearing took place on the weekend and we are doing the legal and administrative procedures, especially corresponding and satisfying the conditions that the judge imposed on us so that the 8 soldiers can be at home, I hope, during the course of today,” he said.
In addition, he recognized the work of the Judiciary for providing a resolution in line with human rights and showing its independence from the federal government.
“The Prosecutor’s Office has failed in its attempt to keep them imprisoned and we celebrate the courage, because courage is also required on the part of the Judiciary to demonstrate independence and courage, with resolutions of the highest standards at the international level, in matters of protection of Rights. Humans,” he added.
The lawyer even accused Undersecretary Alejandro Encinas of “continuing in the inquisitorial era,” because now, he said, citizens are no longer at the expense of the authority “could trample and violate their human rights and individual guarantees.”
Regarding the five soldiers who will remain in prison for more days, their defense stated that, little by little, and eventually “we will have everyone out of prison and with their families.”
“We are also going to try to get them out, those of us who are still formally imprisoned, unfortunately it is not for any special condition, this is simply how the case has developed,” he added.
Of the 14 soldiers who remained in prison for the Ayotizinapa case, one was already released a few days ago and eight are expected to be released in the next few hours. However, the legal situation of five is still pending, so they will remain imprisoned.
