Soldiers are building a field hospital. See what it looks like inside

In the event of an emergency, therefore, mainly stabilized patients for further treatment or patients in isolation who cannot go home will be placed here. However, if the condition of some deteriorates significantly, the complex will also have ten ICU beds with lung ventilation.

Physicians will have two laboratories at their disposal, an X-ray, a tomograph or a decontamination line.

In the largest hall, soldiers are currently preparing 300 beds out of a total of 500. The beds are divided into several sections of 50, each with one ambulance tent. “It contains all the necessary equipment and the information system of Bulovka, which is responsible for the hospital,” explained the director of the military health care agency Ladislav Šlechta.

The second hall is intended as a warehouse and facilities for paramedics, who have 120 beds ready for rest in tents. All the necessary medicines are also stored in the hall, but also blankets, sheets, bathrobes, slippers, etc. These were imported from the warehouse of the State Material Reserves Administration (SSHR).

Medical personnel will be provided by the military

The field hospital is operated by the Hospital in Bulovka, which also rents exhibition halls. He will pay 26 million crowns for the lease.

“The military has built the infrastructure and supplied large equipment, ie beds, intensive care units in containers, imaging methods and more. It will also supply medical staff.

Bulovka will then supply all consumables, medicines, medical gases, cleaning and catering services, ”said Jan Kvaček, director of the Bulovka Hospital.

There are also ten intensive care beds in the field hospital.

In the case of the blackest scenarios, when the capacity of this field hospital would be fully filled, up to 200 army paramedics would take care of patients. In the meantime, however, it is planned that they will be called in gradually as needed.

“Currently, about 200 healthcare professionals, doctors and non-medical staff are working in 50 different workplaces. We assume that the profession of our doctors will in no way jeopardize the functioning of those civilian medical facilities, “explained the Nobility.

The field hospital in Letňany will be completed on Sunday.

The backup hospital may indeed be activated

From Monday, the entire facility will be ready for activation in the event that the capacity of Prague hospitals is exhausted. “We still have free capacity in Bulovka, but it is evident that the hospital is filling up and filling up at an accelerating pace. Although we are able to make up to 250 beds available, we have to think about what will happen next, “describes the director of the Kvaček Hospital.

According to the Minister of Health Roman Prymula (for YES), the biggest crisis in infections will come between November 7 and 11. This follows from the numbers and assumptions of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics (IHIS).

“At the beginning of November, the capacity of hospitals could really be exhausted and this facility would have to be activated. I think this is really one of the real scenarios, so it’s important to prepare for it. We will hope that this will not happen, “adds Kvaček.
