Soldier Killed by Deer at Presidential Palace

ASUNCION – A soldier Paraguay died after he was rammed and gored by an Indian deer in the gardens of the country’s presidential palace.

He was pronounced dead in a military hospital because his injuries were so severe.

Speaking on Tuesday (4/1/2022), military spokesman Colonel Victor Urdapilleta said Sergeant Victor Isasi, 42, died of stab wounds, hit by a deer in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The non-native deer, which was given to the presidential residence, gored the soldier with its antlers.

CCTV captured the moment when Isasi who was on patrol approached the deer before the animal attacked the soldier. Isasi later died in a military hospital.

“On the security cameras you can see (the sergeant) entering the sector where these animals are and he is making a (raising hand) motion that provokes a deer reaction,” Urdapilleta told the media.
