"Sokolov Signs Experienced Extraliga Striker Vojtěch Tomeček for Chance League Debut"

Twenty-eight-year-old striker Vojtěch Tomeček will play in the Chance League for the first time in his career – Sokolov introduced him as a new reinforcement. Tomeček agreed with Baník on a one-year contract with a one-year option.

“At the end of the season, Mr. Kverka Sr. contacted me and outlined to me how things are going in Baník,” Tomeček says in an interview for hcsokolov.cz. “After that, coach Mariška also called me and told me what role I would have in the team.”

“I liked the words about the running of the club and the team, which also interested me a lot. In addition, the coach and I have known each other since youth,” explains Tomeček about his move to Sokolov.

Tomeček is a native of Karlovy Vary, so he is returning to his native region. He played at home in Energia until 2017, then in the Tipsport extraliga he replaced Chomutov, Olomouc and most recently České Budějovice.

In his extra-league career, he has made a total of 415 starts. It was always mainly about an honest defensive winger. Although he was never very productive, he got a glimpse of the national team in the 2017/2018 season.

In Motor this year, he scored two points (1+1) in 47 matches. One floor down, he will certainly receive significantly more offensive tasks. “The role in the team depends on the coach and, of course, on my performance as well. But I hope that I will fulfill the expectations,” reports Tomeček, who has only tried the Chance League in five games for Jihlava.

In addition to Tomeček, Sokolov also introduced other notable reinforcements: he lured, for example, defender David Tureček with Martin Rohan or forward Daniel Vrdlovec.
