Sohag University is looking into a mechanism to implement student awareness programs on reproductive health and family planning

Dr. Ahmed Aziz, President of Sohag University, met this morning with representatives of the Health Improvement Association headed by Representative Abla Al Hawari, and the delegation of the International Population Council represented by Tariq Alamuddin, legal adviser and project implementation officer in the Council, in the presence of Dr. Noor Al Huda Mustafa, Undersecretary of the Faculty of Nursing for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, Dr. Shahira Hussein, expert in health projects management with American aid, Dr. Sherine Ibrahim, director of the project of family planning and reproductive health in the association, to discuss the possibility of signing a cooperation protocol to integrate the reproductive health component within the service programs at the university’s colleges.

During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Aziz stressed the interest of the university administration in cooperation with all external institutions to implement awareness programs for students about important issues in society, especially with regard to problems that hinder development in all areas, indicating that the population increase is a national security issue, and requires all efforts to combine All sectors, with mandatory plans, seeking to work towards a solution to achieve sustainable development, praising the vital role of the Health Improvement Association and the International Population Council, in developing unconventional mechanisms to counteract population growth and reach tangible results.

Representative Abla El Hawary pointed out the necessity of coordination with the participating bodies concerned with the population issue and reproductive health, in addition to the concerted all institutions in the governorate, in order to implement family planning programs and use all methods of persuasion in the field of awareness and reproductive literacy for both men and women alike, and the matter that It reflects on improving the population characteristics of the governorate and reducing population growth rates, noting the importance of family planning and deepening the concept of reproductive health, in terms of quality that aims to improve the health and psychological status of the family.

For his part, Tariq Alam Al-Din clarified that the meeting discussed the mechanism of implementing awareness-raising programs for students on reproductive health as a basic approach affecting both men and women from childhood to old age, adding that high population growth indicators constitute one of the most important challenges that the state is working to confront, Through preparing executive plans and programs to try to control the balance between population and resources, pointing out that a scientific course will be prepared to raise awareness of these problems and their seriousness in the future, along with training a number of doctors on everything new in reproductive health.
