I’ve been using a similar tool for years (PCSHELL dos, Norton (dos/win), Windows/Total and now free-commander, and on Linux command prompt Midnight, Total on Android). I didn’t know this one yet and I’m going to check it out, so I don’t have experience with this one yet.
In general, you can perform a number of actions faster and more conveniently than with 2 separate explorer windows. F7 create directory, F6 move, F3 view file, F4 edit text file etc.
You can do all this with scouts, but it takes more time in terms of actions, but maybe I’ve been stuck in this paradigm for 30 years. Plus it is 1 window, and with 2 separate explorers I always lose 1. You press tab and you’re in the other pane.
The compare function is useful, for example. Freecommander has tabs so you can quickly switch between different locations. Total commander you could also create icons for shortcuts to programs, possibly so that they also open the selected file (useful if there is no association or you want to use another program). Press space bar to count how big a directory is (with all contents)
If you do a lot of file management, like I do now with my nas, then it’s just handy and fast. But to each his own…
