SOFTBANK is the first high-end camera manufactured by Sharp under the full supervision of German camera maker Leica, which was released exclusively in Japan through Softbank on July 10, 2023 (Monday) and November 18, 2022 (Friday) last year. We have started distributing the July 2023 system update for the second spec smartphone “Leitz Phone 2”.
System updates for “Leitz Phone 2” are delivered “Over the Air (OTA)”. You can check whether a system update is available by going to Android Settings >[System]→[System Updates]and tapping[Check for Updates].
In the system update for “Leitz Phone 2” this time, the function of the camera shooting mode “Leitz Looks” unique to the “Leitz Phone” series has been improved and security has been improved (Android security patch update).

The second high-spec smartphone “Leitz Phone 2” manufactured by Sharp and fully supervised by German camera maker Leica is equipped with a 47.2-megapixel 1-inch high-performance image sensor camera on the rear. It is a high-spec smartphone that specializes in cameras.
The main specifications are 6.6 inch (2,730 x 1,260) WUXGA + Pro IGZO OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 12GB RAM, 512GB internal storage, 5,000mAh battery, and Android 12 at the beginning. The rear camera is equipped with a 47.2-megapixel 1-inch high-performance image sensor + 1.9-megapixel ToF (Time Of Flight) sensor for distance measurement, and the front camera is equipped with a 12.6-megapixel sensor with a drop-shaped notch specification.
In terms of specs, the rear camera has been upgraded and the internal storage capacity has been increased from 256GB, but other than that, there is no change from the first “Leitz Phone 1”. In terms of functionality, it continues to support IP68 standard waterproof and dustproof, fingerprint authentication / face authentication, and “Osaifu-Keitai” from the previous work, and also supports the new embedded SIM “eSIM”. Of course, it also supports the next-generation communication standard “5G”, but it also supports “millimeter wave (n257)” from the previous “Sub6” support.
