Sofiane Mazières

After her double degree, Sofiane received a doctoral contract from the Sorbonne University to write her dissertation in sociology entitled: Dynamics of the evolution of the idea and practices of voluntary sobriety in France. A multi-agent simulation study with generative agents led by Professor of Sociology Gianluca Manzo. He chose to work on this subject because changing individual consumption is one of the main issues for him in the fight against global warming. To carry out his research, he uses quantitative and qualitative methods and computer simulations. He manages to handle these tools correctly thanks to his bilingual curriculum Po-INSA Rennes.

As a doctoral student, he also teaches classes in quantitative sociology to first- and second-year undergraduate students. According to him, the skills necessary for teaching are to know how to be clear, to be able to make the subjects as popular as possible, and to know the knowledge enough to be able to convey it in the best possible way. He finds this intellectual exercise very stimulating. Being in charge of teaching allows him to fulfill his thesis, a link is created between the two activities: teaching helps research as much as research helps teaching. In the future, Sofiane wants to continue in research and become a full-time lecturer or researcher.
