Created by young Roubaisiens aged 12 to 14, passionate about comics, football and science fiction, this work highlights the heritage and history of Alma and the city.
The comic strip tells the adventures of Sofiane, a young resident of the Alma district, who wants to bring together a football team to compete in the Golden Beard tournament. Helped by his time machine, he visits the different places in the neighborhood to recruit the members of his team. Between July and December 2022, accompanied by the artist Rodéric Valambois, young people took part in several writing workshops. After a visit to their neighborhood, they met historians specializing in Roubaix football, in order to fuel their reflection and their artistic project. They then built the scenario, created the characters and produced the drawings. An enriching collective adventure, the result of which is to be discovered at La Grand-Plage, Roubaix Media Library.
This project, labeled “It’s my heritage!” was supported by the City, in partnership with the l’Alma social center. It is part of the Roubais policy of artistic and cultural education and the City of Art and History label.
