These cases were combined into one investigation that lasted since April 2021 and was not publicly reported. It is also assumed that citizens of the Russian Federation were put on the wanted list a little earlier than reported.

According to the Bulgarian service “Radio Liberty”of the six Russians put on the wanted list, three are also accused in absentia of poisoning Gebrev with Novichok in 2015, for which a separate investigation is underway.

The above cases are not the only acts of sabotage on the Bulgarian weapons infrastructure in recent years.

In the summer of 2023, a fire broke out in the warehouse of the EMKO company near the city of Karnobat, owned by Emilian Gebrev. large-scale fireto which also Russia may be involved.
