Sofia Exarchou Wins “Golden Alexander” at Thessaloniki Film Festival for “Animal”

The Greek director Sofia Exarchou has won the “Golden Alexander” at the 64th International Film Festival in the Greek port city of Thessaloniki with “Animal”. The festival announced this on Sunday. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros. The film shows the life of the entertainers on a holiday island where hordes of tourists flock. “Animal” follows its heroes in front of and behind the scenes of the stage. The film explores what it’s like to wear the same costume, play the same roles and perform the same routine every day with energy and a smile, said director Sofia Exarchou. The Thessaloniki Film Festival is considered one of the most important events for young artists in Europe.
