Sofia Municipality and the Center for Culture and Debate “Red House” launched a series of discussions on the topic: “Sofia – candidate for European Capital of Culture 2019”.
The selection of the main topic of the cultural program is one of the most important documents for the success of an application. That is why Sofia Municipality in partnership with the Center for Culture and Debate “Red House” are starting a series of discussions that should outline Sofia’s strengths, challenges and opportunities in terms of contemporary cultural policies and the candidacy for European Capital of Culture.
The first discussion asked the following questions: “How does Sofia differ from other large cities in Bulgaria in terms of innovation and sustainability of cultural events? How are new audiences created in the modern city? What are the successful practices for working with children, students, separate social groups that are excluded from the cultural consumption? What are the institutional prerequisites and possible approaches to the problem of reaching and developing new audiences? How to attract foreign audiences?”.
