Sofia and 10 big cities have mayors – main parties lose thousands of votes –

/ world today news/ Sofia and 10 regional cities already have elected mayors in the first round. All major parties registered a serious outflow of voters. Preliminary data indicate this.

Mayors have been elected: in Sofia Yordanka Fandakova, in Varna Ivan Portnih, in Burgas Dimitar Nikolov, in Stara Zagora Zhivko Todorov, in Ruse Plamen Stoilov, in Veliko Tarnovo Daniel Panov, in Blagoevgrad Atanas Kambitov, in Kyustendil Petar Paunov, in Dobrich Detelina Nikolova , in Smolyan Nikolay Melemov and in Kardzhali Hasan Azis.

There will be runoffs in Plovdiv, Vidin, Haskovo, Shumen, Sliven, etc.

All parties are losers

GERB is the first political force with a result of 34%. BSP remains in second place, winning 17 percent of the votes. DPS occupy the third place with 15%. The Reformers follow with 9 percent, ABV – with 4, NFSB and “Ataka” – with 3 percent each and VMRO – with 2.5%.

Compared to the previous parliamentary elections held in 2014, all political parties have registered a serious outflow of votes. GERB lost approximately 50,000 votes, BSP – 12,000, DPS – almost 87,000, Reform Bloc – 25,000. The situation is similar for the smaller parties. The Patriotic Front lost 85,000 voters and Ataka 56,000.

221 whistleblowing

By 6:00 p.m. today, 221 reports of violations of the electoral process were received, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed. Assistance was provided to 20 polling stations. For the period from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the units of the “Bulgarian Identity Documents” Directorate issued a total of 384 certificates to citizens for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed identity documents.

Borisov commented on the results from Brussels

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said that the ruling coalition is “stable enough, we are moving forward.” “I congratulate the mayors who won in the first round. I also congratulate the colleagues from the Reform Bloc, the Patriotic Front and the ABV. I believe that we can continue to govern stably and with all our responsibility”, he commented and concluded: “These elections showed that better cannot be created at the moment”.

Tsvetanov demanded an apology from the Reformers

Tsvetan Tsvetanov called on GERB’s coalition partners from the Reform Bloc to apologize for all attacks against the candidates of Boyko Borisov’s party. “The reformist bloc should now come out and apologize for all the attacks on Yordanka Fandakova, on Ivan Portnih and on Atanas Kambitov. Today, all the provocations during the campaign were answered,” he said, but did not answer the question of what it would mean for “reformers to apologize” for the coalition if they do not. “GERB is the tolerant partner in this cabinet and is guided solely by national interests,” said Tsvetanov and added that BSP and DPS remain their main opponents.

Radan Kanev does not engage in “hashish remarks”

The co-chairman of the Reform Bloc, Radan Kanev, reminded that during the campaign, Tsvetan Tsvetanov allowed himself a rather tough tone. “A run-off is coming, Radan Kanev pointed out from his side. I regret that he (Tsvetanov – note ed.) spoke like that. I will not get into that tone,” he added.

Yotova saw disorganization in the election process

The BSP retains its place as the second political force, said BSP MEP Iliana Yotova. “Throughout the day we are watching how the elections are going in the country. There are hardly any more confused elections,” she said, specifying that thousands of people in the country cannot exercise their right to vote because of the hampered nature of these elections. “This is the first time I’ve seen such disorganization,” Yotova said. According to her, it is hardly a coincidence that the servers of all the organizations that were involved in making elections crashed today.
