“This is an elaborate phishing attempt that could lead to bank fraud if the recipient of the email follows instructions,” Sodexo, which issues the service checks, warned in a statement Friday night. The company is urging people who have received the email not to open it.
“Sodexo’s security team immediately analyzed the situation and determined that the integrity of Sodexo’s IT systems was never compromised. The data was not exposed in any way through its systems.”
