Södertälje had 4–2 at home against AIK at the end of the third period.
Then the match was canceled after a smoke bomb in the away section.
– The stands must be emptied, we will not start the match until it is done, says referee Stefan Johansson in TV4 Play.
It was only a few minutes after Södertälje extended the lead that pyrotechnics were used in the AIK stand.
The message from security officials in the Scaniarink was that only the guests’ section would be evacuated.
– The section must be emptied and then re-visited and then the game must be ready, says Erik Ryman, sports director in the hockey Allsvenskan to Sportbladet.
It took almost 45 minutes before the away section was completely emptied – and the match could start again. Two people were particularly stubborn and spoke at length with the security staff.
“Very sad”
It is not the first time this season that similar scenes have taken place in the hockey Allsvenskan. Or in the Scania rink. In November, the entire hall was emptied during SSK’s meeting with Djurgården.
– Very sad for the hockey allsvenskan, Södertälje and Swedish hockey again, says Erik Ryman.
