Söder calls for a massive tightening of the corona rules

In the fight against the increasing number of infections, Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) is calling for the corona rules to be tightened significantly. “It is mandatory to have 3G at the workplace in all of Germany,” says the CSU boss to the newspapers of the Funke media group, according to a preliminary report.

“Employers must have the right to ask if employees have been vaccinated or have taken a test.” Prime Minister Markus Söder

Söder: Offer corona rapid tests again free of charge

In his catalog of demands for the next Prime Minister’s Conference, Söder also advocates offering corona rapid tests “on a larger scale again free of charge”. “Unfortunately, we find that the introduction of the obligation to pay has hardly increased the willingness to vaccinate,” said the CSU boss. “People who have been vaccinated must also have the opportunity to be tested again without any financial expense.” This demand also comes from retailers and restaurants.

The medical officers in Germany also plead for an expansion of the Covid rapid tests for vaccinated people. “The higher the incidences are now, the more it is necessary that in principle, in addition to the unvaccinated, vaccinated people are also tested before they are given access to homes and clinics, for example,” said the chairwoman of the Federal Association of Doctors in the Public Health Service, Ute Teichert, the newspapers of the Essen Funke media group.

Stiko is said to recommend booster vaccination for everyone

The decision of the conference of health ministers to allow vaccinated and convalescents to have an additional test when entering care facilities is a step in the right direction. The health ministers of the federal states agreed on Friday on the basic procedure for corona booster vaccinations and the protection of nursing homes.

Söder also recommends extending the booster vaccinations to the general population and increasing the pressure on the Standing Vaccination Commission. “A refresher must be possible for everyone who needs and wants it,” he says. “It would help if the Standing Committee on Vaccination came up with a general booster recommendation.”

Ethics Council should examine mandatory vaccination for nurses

The Bavarian Prime Minister called on the Ethics Council to deal again with compulsory vaccination for nurses in view of the sharply increasing corona numbers. “I would ask the Ethics Council to fundamentally deal with the question of mandatory vaccination again,” said Söder.

Wolfram Henn from the German Ethics Council spoke out clearly in favor of compulsory vaccination for nursing staff. “It is completely unacceptable and unprofessional if people who work with vulnerable groups every day are not vaccinated,” he told the Düsseldorf “Rheinische Post”. Anyone who takes on a profession in this highly sensitive area makes a conscious decision to take on special responsibility.
