EL NUEVO DIARIO, NEW YORK.- The New York Yankees awarded Minor League contracts to Dominican outfielder Socrates Brito and pitcher Tyler Lyons.
Brito, 28, has a career .179 / .216 / .309 offensive line with five home runs in 218 at-bats with the D-backs and Blue Jays. The Quisqueyan, who is one of the fastest running backs in the majors, can defend each of the three positions on the prairies.
Lyons, who turns 33 in February, made a presentation for the Bombers in 2020, when he gave up four runs in 1.2 innings. The southpaw has a 4.30 ERA (93 ERA) in 162 games (20 starts) for the Cardinals, Pirates and Yankees.
The veteran has been successful against left-handed hitters, controlling them to a career OPS of .642, compared to .767 against right-handed opponents.
