Employees of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences spoke about how Belarusian pensioners evaluate their lives, reports BELTA.
Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in July – In August 2023, he conducted a telephone sociological survey to study public opinion about the problems of concern to the retirement age population. The study was carried out in all regional cities and Minsk, individual regional cities and rural settlements.
The head of the Center for Operational Research “Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” Alexander Belsky drew attention to the fact that 600 pensioners of Belarus aged 58 years and older took part in the survey.
– We can say that our Belarusian pensioners are quite optimistic, – Belsky noted.
78.6% of respondents are satisfied with their life. 15% – not satisfied. The percentage of the answer “I don’t know” is small, so this is a clear and formulated opinion.
A special category of the study was the question of the population’s attitude towards people of retirement age: 45.7% of respondents believe that society treats them well, 32.8% – neutral, 5.7% – poorly.
The majority of pensioners (51.6%) rated their health as 3 points, 20.8% as 4, and 10.3% as 2.
In addition, 54.8% of respondents rated their own financial situation as average, 32.7% called it good and 10.9% called it bad.
“Also, 75.4% of respondents have only a pension as a source of income,” – said Alexander Belsky.
