GridHot.ID – The corona virus pandemic is still a frightening specter for the world community.
Reporting from Gridhealth.id, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Covid-19 is contagious, especially among people who have been in close contact for a long time.
Coronavirus transmission occurs when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, and droplets from their mouth or nose are launched into the air and land on the mouths or noses of people nearby.
So carrying out health protocols such as 3M (wearing masks, washing hands, and keeping your distance) is an obligation that cannot be ignored.
Launching Sripoku.com, to find out how long the symptoms of Covid-19 last in the bodies of patients with mild to moderate symptoms, as many as 103 people over 18 years of age who tested positive for Covid-19 underwent research.
The results of the research that took place from April to October 2020, quoted from Kompas.com, were published in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infection.
Launching from The Jerusalem Post, (21/2/2021), the participants who were not these patients underwent interview sessions four times during the study.
Symptoms that last 6 months
As a result, from this study, someone who experienced mild to moderate symptoms could still experience symptoms for up to 6 months.
“It’s terrifying that after six months, young people who were healthy and feeling fine before the coronavirus would still have symptoms,” said Dr. Sarah Israel of Hadassah-University Medical Center, who helped write the report.
For six months, 46 percent of patients had at least one symptom that persisted.
As for the most, namely 22 percent of patients experiencing symptoms of fatigue.
Furthermore, another 15 percent experienced changes in smell and taste, while 8 percent had difficulty breathing.
14 Symptoms of Covid-19
In this study, researchers also observed 14 symptoms of Covid-19 that have been reported so far.
A total of 12 symptoms are listed with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) including changes in taste, change in smell, fever, cough, muscle aches, headache, runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea, shortness of breath, vomiting and nausea.
Meanwhile, the other two symptoms are loss of appetite and fatigue.
The study also showed that people when they were sick had initial symptoms such as headache (44 percent), fever (41 percent), muscle aches (39 percent) and dry cough (38 percent).
However, most of these early symptoms can heal on their own quickly.
More than half of the study participants reported loss of appetite, although this was not a symptom that did not make the CDC list.
Another non-CDC symptom, fatigue, was also listed in the report as another symptom experienced by the participants.
“I think people now know that this is not an easy virus.”
“Even if you don’t seem sick, the virus can hit you for months afterward.”
“The risk of side effects from the vaccine is small compared to viral symptoms,” Sarah said.
Long Covid
Meanwhile, other researchers from the University of Washington who analyzed 177 people in Seattle, USA reported that someone who had recovered could experience up to 9 symptoms of long covid.
Launching Kompas.com, Monday (22/2/2021) the study showed that the most frequent persistent symptom was fatigue, which was reported by 13.6 participants overall.
The loss of smell and taste was reported by 13.6 participants. while other symptoms are symptoms of muscle pain, difficulty breathing cough and brain fog.
