Socialist Party accuses that Fogape has deficiencies in access, coverage and transparency | Economy

A report by the Socialist Party and more than 50 micro and small companies, found that the Guarantee Fund for Small Business Owners (Fogape) delivered during the pandemic has deficiencies in access, coverage, and transparency.

The document, prepared to monitor the government’s emergency plan, revealed that only 128 thousand MSMEs have been awarded the fund, and that, in practice, there are problems with the suspension of other current loans granted by banks.

In this context, the president of the Economic Commission of the Socialist Party, Lyssete Henríquez, accused that the Executive has not complied with full coverage of micro and small companies.

For his part, the head of the National Confederation of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Germán Dantres, assured that the banks were not prepared to grant this credit and that, therefore, only 350 thousand MSMEs will be able to apply to the fund.

It is for this reason that he suggested that micro-enterprises should not opt for Fogape, but rather an easier access subsidy.

This position was shared by the president of the Multigremial de Emprendedores de Chile, Juan Pablo Swett, who added that small companies are “the big absentees” of this emergency loan.

As a result of the problem, the report of the Socialist Party establishes improvement proposals, such as reviewing the Fogape regulations and granting a relevant role to the State Bank for its specialization in Microenterprises.
