Social workers in Burgas, Rouen and Aytos go on a warning strike

On 12.12.2023 /Tuesday/ from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., a one-hour warning strike will be held in the structures of the Social Assistance Agency. Burgas, Rouen and Aytos will also join it.

The employees will be at their workplaces and will not serve citizens during the specified hours.

The demands of the workers are:

• 30% increase in salary costs with the adoption of the next year’s budget;

• Provision of means of protection and vision correction for ASP workers;

• Update the amount of funds for representative work clothes;

• Change of the Classifier of positions in the administration containing the transformation of the social worker’s legal relationship from employment to service and the minimum requirement for an educational degree upon appointment – a bachelor’s degree.

Here is what KT Podkrepa has to say:

According to the calculations of the “Support” union of administrative employees, it is necessary to provide funds in the amount of 39.6 million BGN, and it is precisely such a resource that we insist should be provided in the ZDBRB for 2024.

It is no less important that, after providing the necessary funds, they are spent on increasing the basic salary of all ASP employees according to a mechanism agreed with and approved by the trade union organizations!

There is no need to pay attention to how key the Social Assistance Agency is to Bulgarian society – it is the institution charged with the difficult task of taking care of the most vulnerable groups of our society, and the people working in the agency are not only established professionals, but and people with big hearts.

More than 4,600 people work in ASP, who fulfill their professional and purely human vocation every day, every hour and every minute – they take care of our fellow citizens in need! It is humiliating that social workers, whose commitments have increased steadily in recent years, receive remuneration that is close to the minimum wage! We insist on a fair assessment of their work.

The workers at the Social Assistance Agency will defend their demands to the end and if they are not heard, they will stop working and announce indefinite strike action!
