The Social Security Administration (SSA) of the United States provides money to almost 71 million Americans. More than half of these Americans are retired and the rest are disabled. These disabled citizens are part of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. This year there was a 3.2% increase in the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).
For this reason, the SSA increased the average payment for retired workers to $1,900.00 USD.
The average figure for SSI users is estimated at $943.00 USD. However, the specific dollar amount each beneficiary receives varies depending on their personal characteristics.
Another peculiarity of the program is related to the collection calendar, because these are established by the date of birth of the population.
Residents whose birthday is from the 1st to the 10th of each month receive benefits on the second Wednesday.
Residents born between the 11th and 20th of any month are paid on third Wednesdays. While consumers with a date of birth between the 21st and 31st receive their remuneration on the fourth Wednesday.
Months that pay double
The workers who took advantage of the work break prior to the month of May 1997 collect their monthly payments in the initial days. SSI clients are also included in the charges for the first days of each month.
These people have the opportunity to achieve double payouts at times. This happens because the collection day may coincide with a weekend or a national holiday.
When this situation occurs, the payment date is brought forward to the final days of a billed month. In this way, finances are accessed twice in the same month.
This year this circumstance will occur in May, since an additional payment will be made in June. In August, September payments are granted and in November, December payments are granted.
During the month of December, it will be time to collect the monetary resource that belongs to January 2025. Among the months that will be free of stipends are June, September, December and January of next year.
