In the Children, Youth and Families Department, the part-time position is in the Youth Welfare Planning Department

These are your tasks with us:

    According to Section 1 (3) SGB VIII, child and youth welfare services have the task of promoting young people in their individual and social development, helping to avoid or reduce disadvantages, advising and supporting parents and other legal guardians in their upbringing, To protect children and young people from threats to their well-being and, overall, to contribute to maintaining or creating positive living conditions for young people and their families as well as a child and family-friendly environment.

    In Gelsenkirchen, these tasks are carried out, among other things, by daycare centers and day care, youth centers as well as the general child and youth work offerings, social services as well as a wide range of help and advice offers by independent providers and the municipal youth welfare provider. Youth welfare planning is responsible for coordinating and completing these tasks within the framework of the public agency’s planning responsibility.

    The area of ​​responsibility includes, in particular, the fulfillment of the public authority’s planning responsibilities in accordance with Section 80 SGB VIII:

    • Creation and updating of an integrated planning and reporting system for various areas of youth welfare
    • Social scientific conceptual (further) development of planning areas
    • Evaluation and analysis of demographic and socio-spatial processes and data
    • Planning, conducting, evaluating and preparing surveys
    • Design of communicative processes, networking and control discourses
    • Committee work and representation of the department in internal and external working groups
    • Production of press releases and technical statements

What you bring with you:

    The prerequisite for this area of ​​responsibility is a completed university degree in the social sciences (diploma from a university or master’s degree).

    The applicant is also expected to:

    • Communication skills appropriate to the target group
    • Strong ability to think conceptually and strategically
    • High level of decision-making and assertiveness
    • Independent and solution-oriented way of working

    In-depth knowledge in the field of empirical social research and experience in youth welfare are an advantage for the successful performance of tasks.

    Proficient use of the Microsoft Office standard software is required.
