Social pulse survey June 2021 | Economy

This Monday, the Dane delivered the results of the most recent Social Pulse Survey for the month of June.

It is an X-ray of how Colombian households feel the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The survey, which has been conducted since last year, measures the perceptions of the effect in various areas of daily life.

By June, according to the director of Dane, Juan Daniel Oviedo, there is a significant improvement in the perception of citizens compared to May, because during the fifth month of the year there was a generalized pessimism due to the effect of the national strike.

CONSUMER CONFIDENCE

According to the indicators, consumer confidence was 31.7% in June, while in May the variation was 27.6%.

This indicator is at a very similar level to that recorded at the beginning of the year, before the start of the strike.

For its part, The percentage of households that stated that the economic situation is worse compared to 12 months ago was 60.2% in June, which although it is still a high figure, had a significant drop compared to May, when it was 67.2% , that is, the perception of pessimism fell 7 percentage points from month to month.

Regarding the level of optimism regarding the future of the economic situation in the next 12 months, this indicator rose to 30% in the sixth of the year. In May, the figure stood at 21.9%.

INTENTION TO BE VACCINATED

The survey also investigates the perception of Colombians regarding vaccination against the coronavirus.

(Only 55.8% of Colombians would be vaccinated against the coronavirus).

Faced with the issue of what intention do Colombians have to be vaccinated against covid-19, 47.6% assured that they will be vaccinated, fcompared to 11.6% who say they will not do it, while 21.4% have already applied a dose and 18.9% already have the complete vaccination schedule.

Among the 11.6% who said they will not get vaccinated, the main reason is because they believe that it is unsafe (64.4%), followed by the perception that they do not believe that the vaccine is sufficient.

In May, 62% of the population said that they did intend to be vaccinated compared to 17.4% who said they would not do it and 20.1% who said they had already done so.

However, it should be noted that for the last survey, referring to June, the indicator of those already vaccinated increased significantly. In addition, the variation of those already vaccinated for the second dose was added, which means a significant improvement in the perception of vaccination, since added these indicators reaches the 87.9 that they intend to be vaccinated or have already been vaccinated.

COVID

For its part, According to the Social Pulse Survey, in June 2021 83.8% of heads of household stated that they had not been infected with coronavirus, and 15% were infected and recovered.

The feeling of permanent fatigue or tiredness is the most frequent consequence after recovery from the disease among those who said they had been infected.

28.4% of recovered have manifested these symptoms after infection.
