Between champions, we can play sports together. Lindsey Vonn was able to ski with Roger Federer last week in Lenzerheide in Graubünden. An experience that she shared on social networks, showing all her admiration for the Basel resident.
But there is a word that is misused: GOAT, for Greatest of All Time, the greatest of all time. The fans of Dkokovic and Nadal, the two players who have won more Grand Slam titles than the Swiss (24 for the first, 22 for the second and 20 for Rodger) were choked.
Faced with the torrent of protests, the American ski champion withdrew her message from X, but explained herself with a new post. “GOAT is a subjective title,” she wrote. What makes someone great? His stats? His records? Its impact? His character? All of this? People have different opinions and that’s OK. My goat may not be your goat and there will always be debate, but opinions are just that, opinions, and everyone is entitled to them.”
However, she did not remove her message on Instagram, where Goat is not written in full, but replaced by the emoji of a goat. “You are my 🐐forever, because it’s not about the statistics but the impact you’ve had on me, and I’m just one of millions.”
Here too, fans of the other champions did not fail to react, with one writing in particular: “Even on skis, Novak is our Goat”.
