Perhaps the end of the battle between the platform and justice? The social network X has appointed a legal representative in the country, the company’s lawyers announced to the site CNN Brazil and to l’agence ReutersFriday September 20.

The network, owned by billionaire and far-right supporter Elon Musk, had decided to close its offices in the countryin protest against a decision by the Brazilian courts, which demanded the banning of certain users for acts of disinformation. A judge of the Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, has made it mandatory, since August 31, to block X in the country, criticizing the management of the platform for this lack of a legal representative and the refusal to comply with the requests of the courts.

Even with this setback, the network’s return to Brazil is not guaranteed: X must still block users designated by the courts, CNN Brasil reports. It must also pay a fine, imposed by the same judge on Wednesday when the network briefly became accessible again in the country – X claims a reappearance “involuntary” after a server change.

Elon Musk, the libertarian billionaire and boss of the platform, regularly denounces the Brazilian judge whom he described as dictatorand of criminal of the worst kindand accuses illegal decisions and political interference. His social network is also threatened with sanctions by the European Union for misleading users and lack of transparency on the advertising it displays.
