Social Minister Ivanka Shalpatova said this morning to Nova TV that pensions will be updated according to the Swiss rule.

“The budget procedure is still ongoing, we have to take into account the economic situation. But the inflation data is positive. I am an optimist, I think that the level of pensions will be compensated so that pensioners can live well”, said Shalapatova.

On the issue of the minimum wage, which should be raised to BGN 930, Shalapatova said that a conversation with the social partners is forthcoming.

“We have implemented many measures to support the population for adequate access to the labor market,” said the social minister.

Unemployment in Bulgaria is 5.3%, she further explained. Analyzes are being made and measures will be activated in different regions of the country.

She commented on the consequences of the flood along the southern Black Sea coast. 103 households have already been visited after the flood in Tsarevo, they have been provided with emotional and psychological help, as well as information about the benefits, the minister pointed out.

As a result of the submitted applications, 46 benefits, up to three times the amount of the poverty line, have been granted so far. “The support can reach up to BGN 1,512, with individual needs being assessed,” Shalapatova said.

“We made access to the Social Protection Fund easier. Up to BGN 2,500 can be supported for any household that has received the first aid. It can be helped with basic equipment needs,” Shalapatova said.

Today she will meet with the mayor of Tsarevo and the regional administration.

“Next week, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the proposal of the ministry to support the people who lost their loved ones in the amount of BGN 15,000 will be voted on,” Shalapatova said. “Our goal is for this aid to be a permanent measure,” she added.
