Social commerce describes the sale of products via social media. So I discover a new pair of jeans on Instagram and buy them with a few clicks without leaving the app. Today, all major social networks, from Facebook to Pinterest, are working on features that allow such a shopping experience.
Some – like Instagram and TikTok – already offer social commerce features or are in test phases. Already today, 48 percent of all 18 to 34 year olds in the USA buy products on social media, whereby the check-out still takes place in the online shop!
