In line with his position in the plebiscite of last December 17, a process for which he suggested voting Against, the Social Christian Party, led by the representative for Ñuble, Sara Concha, decided to assume the responsibility “of representing the figures of the right that maintained their values and principles, facing the proposed constitutional change,” they said.
This will translate, as Concha announced, into gubernatorial candidacies in the sixteen regions, and a Presidential candidacy in the first round.
Own and “borrowed” names
Among the names that the Social Christian Party has in mind to represent this bloc are those of the independent senator close to the community, Juan Castro Prieto, from the Maule region; and that of the activist and deputy for Biobío, Francesca Muñoz, the first regional majority in deputies and national manager of Women of the Social Christian Party.
Likewise, other names are being considered, such as Antaris Varela, Carolina Gárate and Luciano Silva, among others, all members of the Social Christian Party, since it is a process “still open,” they specified.
In the same presidential sphere, the Social Christian party is also available to talk with independent figures who played an important role for the Against option in the plebiscite, such as Senator Rojo Edwards, Iván Poduje, Teresa Marinovic, Deputy Gonzalo de la Carrera , and others who embody the right-wing perspective of Contra, and who also have a republican past.
According to representative Sara Concha, “with the objective of comprehensively representing the right-wing bloc, the party confirms its participation in the 2025 Presidential elections, ideally seeking a candidate aligned with the values of the community. The specific details will be discussed throughout the year,” she said.
Also, the store will compete throughout Chile, with its own candidates in 2024, in the municipal elections and regional governorships, with members of the Social Christian Party and independents.
“Our party, which is made up of Christians, center and right-wing militants, has national representation, which is why we will have candidates in the sixteen regions of the country to run for the position of regional governors, and today, thanks to that massive support On the part of political authorities and citizens who feel represented by our party, we have decided to compete for the presidential elections,” said Concha.
He stressed that “as a Social Christian Party we are in a stage of consolidating ourselves as a national party. Our projection to establish ourselves in all regions of Chile is for March 2024, and the milestone of this important and significant step in politics will be marked by our active participation in the 2025 presidential ballot,” he stated.
