Social center partner for care group – Gottenheim

Gottenheim Council decides.

In its most recent meeting, the Gottenheim municipal council unanimously voted in favor of giving the nursing home community, which is to be built in the area of the former kindergarten in Kaiserstuhlstraße, to the sponsorship of the church social center in northern Breisgau. The municipality wants to rent the space needed for this.

For some time now, the municipality has been working on a concept under the motto “Growing old well in Gottenheim” to set up age-appropriate apartments, assisted living and a nursing home in Kaiserstuhlstraße. At the council meeting, which was also attended by Professor Emeritus for Social Gerontology Cornelia Kricheldorff from the Catholic University of Freiburg, Mayor Christian Riesterer recalled events for citizen participation and the establishment of a steering group. There it was agreed to negotiate with the nursing services working in the village about a sponsorship.

In the end, however, only the church social center in Bötzingen was interested. They have agreed to adopt the guidelines developed by the steering committee for the operation of the residential group. The welfare center was then included in further planning with the client, the Bauverein Breisgau.

Another groundbreaking decision was made by the Council for the operation of the nursing home community. Here it was unanimously decided that the community would rent the rooms of the residential group from the Bauverein Breisgau in their entirety and rent them out individually to the future residents. This gives you the opportunity to have a say in the occupancy, said Riesterer. This is also a building block in the concept of shared responsibility, according to which rental, everyday support with care and care should not be in one hand.

The residents’ committee decides who will specifically take over the care for a limited period of time. Residents should also be involved in the care in a kind of neighborhood help.
