Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), and President of the Republic, today urged the municipal assemblies of People’s Power to focus their work on prevention and social care.

During the meeting of the commissions for Attention to the Local Bodies of Popular Power and Children, Youth and Women’s Rights, as a prelude to the Second Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) in its X Legislature , the Cuban president referred to the importance of transferring the proposals presented by the deputies to the municipalities and governors.

To contribute to the improvement of the prevention and social care policy, the President of the Republic first explained the need to identify the causes and manifestations why people and families in general find themselves in risk situations.
At the same time, he acknowledged being in the presence of a sensitive issue that deeply impacts the humanist vocation of the Revolution and made reference to the maxim of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, not to distinguish citizens by their personal possessions but by their spiritual capacities and contributions to society.

Díaz-Canel highlighted the role of social workers, a work of the Revolution, in the development of these tasks aimed at eradicating social inequalities and the proliferation of dysfunctional families.
Deputies present debated the need to link all social sectors in prevention and social care work, since popular participation is fundamental in transformation processes.
The day included the approval of the report presented by the commissions for Attention to Local Bodies and Attention to Children, Youth and Women’s Equality, on control actions for the fulfillment of prevention and social care tasks, topic that will continue to be debated by the ANPP.

As part of this control, 34 municipalities were visited to exchange with the presidents of the assemblies at those levels, the documentation of the popular councils was reviewed and analyzes were carried out with their presidents and coordinating entities of the groups to address prevention and social care. in the communities.
