Online shopping activities through live streaming or live shopping are now a new trend among the public. The various conveniences and benefits offered through this industry have made more and more business actors try their luck through this channel.
This gap also creates opportunities to innovate to create a platform that can connect MSME actors with live streaming hosts. One of them is Social Bread, a business formed by entrepreneur and YouTuber from Indonesia, Edho Zell. From this business, he managed to earn a gross turnover of over Rp. 1 billion per month.
“To be honest, Social Bread didn’t start because I was looking for opportunities or money, I just wanted to help my church friends. Because it used to be Covid-19 in early 2020, when I got Covid, my friends at the church had a lot of businessmen. Suddenly, Covid was told to close. the government is not allowed to open shops,” he said, when met at the Social Breads Office, BSD, Tangerang, written Friday (1/9/2023).
“So there is no income, no employee salaries. In the end they ran to me, ‘please help with social media’, because they know I’m a content creator, right,” he continued.
However, the capital that his friends have to manage social media accounts is only around IDR 5 million. According to him, this capital is not enough to hire social media management needs such as talent, videographers, photographers, editors, to admins. Finally, the idea emerged to connect these business actors with content creators. he also tried to contact his acquaintances and offered him to manage related business accounts.
“Eh, do you want to hold my friend’s restaurant account? ‘Oh endorse?’ No, you manage the account. So you upload it to the restaurant’s account. ‘Oh, but teach me, okay?’ he explained, while citing his conversation with his friends.
Finally, Social Bread was born, an influencer marketplace for MSMEs and local brands. Now, Social Bread has around 80 streamers and content creators available in Jakarta and Surabaya. Accumulated from 2020 to August 2023, Social Bread has 813 users and 2,514 transactions, while the number of active brands this month has reached 150 local brands. Edho could not convey the exact amount of his gross turnover, but it is above IDR 1 billion per month.
Unlike other agencies in general, Edho explained, Social Bread’s role was only as a bridge. Meanwhile, the streamers and content creators will act as the ‘agency’ itself in handling the needs of business actors. Businesses can also choose which streamer or content creator they want to hire.
“It’s like an e-commerce catalog. You can even see examples of their live streams. For example, press the live stream example. ‘Oh, I don’t want to be too fussy, my product is elegant.’ Want something more relaxed? There’s a host, just check one out. -One, choose, just the transaction,” he explained.
“So we are indeed our commissioners from Tokped, GOTO. So indeed we are the focus for Gojek, and we will launch the application (Social Bread) next month hopefully,” he said.
The price packages offered also vary, depending on the related creator or streamer. Starting from IDR 5 million per month for content creators and IDR 7.5 million for live streamers. For the live streamer package itself, it includes 30 times live shopping, social media analyst, live equipment, backgrounds, and places. Business people just have to send what product they have, all they have to do is receive it.
As Founder and CEO, Edho explained, one of Social Bread’s main goals is to be able to facilitate MSMEs or local brands who want to increase their business through social media more easily and cheaply. So far, his party has received many positive responses from its client users, including business actors who have tried to manage their own accounts but have not been optimal.
“The turnover was from Rp. 100 million, down to Rp. 60 million, down to Rp. 30 million. In the end, it came to us, we helped manage it, finally, thank God, it had doubled in its first month. There was also one, the most touching thing, he thanked because at the time of Covid-19 yesterday he managed to retain his employees for a year because his videos went viral on TikTok,” said Edho.
