The government intervenes with a further decree to calm the cost of energy and loosen the stranglehold on businesses and families. One of the main measures of the 4.4 billion euro provision, after the 16 billion already allocated, is theextension of the so-called social bonus to over one million more familiesto support the dizzying prices of electricity and gas.
Energy decree, social bonus on bills for several families: the provision
In the energy decree that has just been launched, the meshes of the Isee limit are opened, allowing access to the contribution to an audience of 5.2 million families, who will pay their bills at the same prices recorded last summer.
The maximum income ceiling of the social bonus is thus raised from 8,265 to 12 thousand euros, for the period from 1 April to 31 December 2022.
“Unlike the previous measures, most of today’s interventions are not financed by the public budget, but by companies in the energy sector”Said Draghi presenting the provision at a press conference.

Energy decree, social bonus on bills for several families: how to get it
In the definition of “social bonus“A category of aid is included, which translate into a discount on the bill:
- the electric bonus
- he bonus gas
- the water bonus.
The Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment (ARERA) includes these in the group of so-called “social bonuses for economic hardship“, Which come from January 1st 2021 automatically recognized to citizens / families who are entitled to it, without these having to submit an application (we talked here about social bonuses to pay for gas and electricity).
It will be sufficient that every year, starting from 2021, the citizen / family unit presents the Single Substitute Declaration (DSU) to obtain the useful ISEE certificate (who we explain how to calculate it).
In addition to compliance with the Isee requirements, to access the “social bonus” households must comply with the following conditions: one of the family members must be accountholder an electricity and / or gas and / or water supply contract with a tariff for domestic and active uses or use an active condominium gas and / or water supply.
Each citizen can view the progress of their practice by connecting to the reserved section “Check your file online” and the checks will take place through the SGAte, an IT system through which operations are managed to verify that the applicant for the bonus has the requisites established by the legislation to obtain the benefit.
