Soccer player Hwang Ui-jo (32) finished his loan from Norwich City in England early and returned to his former team, Nottingham Forest. While he was unable to get a chance to play in Nottingham, he was loaned to Norwich, but returned without completing the loan period. There is also analysis that his position as a player may be further shaken.

The English professional soccer club Nottingham announced the return of Hwang Ui-jo on the 9th (local time). Norwich also said, “We are grateful to Hwang Ui-jo for his dedication so far.”

Nottingham belongs to the first division, the English Premier League (EPL), and Norwich belongs to the second division, the EFL Championship. Hwang Ui-jo joined Nottingham after completing his loan from K-League FC Seoul in June last year. However, Hwang Ui-jo was unable to play in Nottingham as he was evaluated as being below his best.

In the end, he went on loan to Norwich in the second division in September last year. At the time, Norwich needed a blood transfusion due to an injury to their starting striker. Hwang Ui-jo signed a one-year lease contract. Afterwards, Hwang Ui-jo’s suspicion of illegal filming became known, and he was eventually excluded from the Korean national team. British media also reported that Hwang Ui-jo was under investigation, but Norwich coach also expressed his intention to continue using Hwang Ui-jo. Even after the controversy, Hwang Ui-jo continued to show his good sense by scoring a goal in Norwich. He recorded 3 goals and 1 assist in 18 games wearing the Norwich uniform.

However, the lease ended up being terminated early. He did not complete the full year and returned after about 130 days. Nottingham and Norwich did not disclose the reason for early termination of the lease. The British BBC reported, “Hwang Ui-jo is scheduled to miss about six weeks due to a hamstring injury, and has returned to his original team.” He also added that he was under police investigation.
