Hamburg (AP) – Second division soccer team Hamburger SV has to do without Anssi Suhonen for a long time. As the Hanseatic League announced on Thursday, the 21-year-old Finn suffered a fractured fibula during training on Wednesday and was to have an operation on Thursday at the Eppendorf University Hospital.
The midfielder, who has become an important part of the HSV team over the course of this season and scored two goals in 18 games and provided two more assists, will miss the last league game on Sunday (3:30 p.m. / Sky) at Hansa Rostock. The Finnish U21 national player will be out for a few weeks and would also be absent from his team if they were relegated to the Bundesliga.
