Freiburg (AP) – SC Freiburg is temporarily not allowed to host any evening games of the Bundesliga in its new stadium. After the complaint of some residents, the Baden-Württemberg Administrative Court announced this decision on Tuesday in the month-long dispute. For the time being, the Freiburgers are not allowed to play Bundesliga games from 8 p.m. in the new arena, nor are they allowed to play on Sundays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. It is still unclear when coach Christian Streich’s team will move to their new stadium. Initially, the SC will continue to host their home games in the Black Forest Stadium.

DFB Cup matches in the new arena near the airport, on the other hand, should also take place in the evening and possibly also extend into the night (from 10 p.m.), as it was said. Also European Cup games would be allowed to the Freiburg not qualified for the international competition during these times. In contrast, there will be no late Bundesliga games for the time being – because these were “probably wrongly classified as rare events within the meaning of the sports facility noise protection ordinance,” it said. The decision is final.
