Freiburg / Cologne (dpa) – After the 5-0 defeat at SC Freiburg, coach Markus Gisdol is not available at 1. FC Cologne. “Markus will sit on the bench on Saturday,” said sports director Horst Heldt on Sunday. Before the next task against Hertha BSC, Cologne only collected eleven points and are thus in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga. “That is not acceptable. We will not stay in the league”, Heldt criticized the performance in Breisgau.
As a measure before the game in Freiburg, it had been decided that Frederik Sörensen, Christian Clemens and Robert Voloder would train in the second team in the future. The squad should be reduced so that training can be carried out better and more intensively, Heldt said as a justification.
