Freiburg (AP) – Gladbach coach Marco Rose can not understand the dismissal for Alassane Plea in the 0-1 (0-0) defeat at SC Freiburg. “A joke in total, I have to say honestly,” said the coach late Friday evening. The Frenchman Plea was sent off in the 68th minute after a foul on Freiburg’s Robin Koch. In the first half, the striker had been warned about hitting the ball.
“I have to talk to Plea, too, that he should leave the ball as far as possible. But he didn’t shoot it out of the stadium, he didn’t viciously kick it anywhere,” said Rose. The second yellow card was “a completely normal duel” for him. “He accidentally kicks him on the foot more or less, he’s a little late. That’s far too little for a second yellow card.” Plea will now be absent from Bayern Munich on the next matchday of the Bundesliga.
Following the dismissal, Gladbach’s sports director Max Eberl received the red card for complaining. “Max was obviously very emotional,” said Rose. “We have goals, we all want to win. So he blurted out.”
