Freiburg (AP) – SC Freiburg has extended the contract with captain and full-back Christian Günter. As usual, the Bundesliga club did not provide any information about the term of the contract. The 28-year-old has been playing for the Breisgauer since the C-youth and has so far completed 284 compulsory games for the professionals.

“Willingness, performance, social skills and an open approach characterize Christian,” said sports director Klemens Hartenbach in the club’s announcement on Thursday. “Christian Günter is an incredibly important player and person for us in our day-to-day cooperation.” Günter himself “still has the feeling that there is still a lot going on here and that my personal development and the development of the team are far from over”, as he said. “With this feeling I want to go further as captain.”
