Berlin (dpa) – It’s getting tight. After the teams of the two second division soccer clubs SV Sandhausen and Karlsruher SC had to go into a 14-day quarantine due to corona cases, the organization of five games at the planned time is currently in question. The 2020/21 season should end on the weekend around May 22nd – many dates for possible catch-up games are no longer free.

THE INITIAL SITUATION: According to the current status, Sandhausen cannot compete at SpVgg Fürth (April 9) and against Hamburger SV (April 16) – the quarantine at SVS has been in place since last Sunday. The KSC, whose team must remain isolated until the 20th, has even requested the postponement of the three games at Fortuna Düsseldorf (April 10), against Erzgebirge Aue (April 17) and HSV (April 20). After the 30th matchday during the week (April 20-22) there is still one month until the end of the regular season.

THE DATES: After the 31st matchday (April 23 to 26), the 2nd Bundesliga has almost two weeks off. At the end of April, the semi-final first legs in the European Cup will rise, the first weekend in May is reserved for the semi-finals in the DFB Cup – without the teams affected by the quarantine. After the 32nd matchday (7th to 10th May) there are still three days until the DFB Cup final.

On the following weekend, the games on the 33rd matchday in the 2nd Bundesliga will be played in parallel as usual (May 16), as will those on the 34th matchday (May 23) a week later. At best, all clubs should have played the same number of games by matchday 33. This is followed by the week of relegation games and the European Cup finals from May 24th, before compulsory parking for the EM (June 11th to July 11th) begins on May 31st.
