Soccer – Frankfurt am Main – Hasebe replaces Cha as Asia’s Bundesliga record holder – Sport

Frankfurt / Main (dpa) – With his 309th assignment, Makoto Hasebe from Eintracht Frankfurt is now the Asian football professional with the most games in the Bundesliga. The 36-year-old Japanese was part of the starting line-up in the home game of Eintracht against FSV Mainz 05 as defense chief. Hasebe had shared the record since their 3-0 win in Bremen with South Korean Bum-Kun Cha, who once stormed 98 for Eintracht, Bayer Leverkusen and Darmstadt. Hasebe won the German championship with VfL Wolfsburg, relegated with Nuremberg and won the DFB Cup with Frankfurt. He played 114 caps for Japan and was involved in four World Cup finals.
