Stuttgart (dpa) – Eintracht Frankfurt’s President Peter Fischer would like a clearer attitude against right-wing ideas in professional football. “Everyone has to decide for themselves,” said the head of the Bundesliga club in an interview with the “Stuttgarter Zeitung” and “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” (Saturday). “But what speaks against a clear stance against the right?”

Fischer referred to Bundesliga rivals such as record champions FC Bayern, VfB Stuttgart and many other major clubs. “And if we move away from football, there are large organizations that could also show a clear stance.” The 64-year-old has been campaigning against racist and inhuman tendencies in society for years.

“I don’t understand that there are very few who use their exposed position and their reach to say: We are that – and we are not. Those are two sentences,” said Fischer. “Often a clear demarcation and a clear statement are sufficient. Unfortunately, this is far too rare.”
