Vibrant encounter offered by the two Canarian representatives in the silver division of Spanish football. Two teams that had their chances and with very different phases although the visitors had more options in the final stretch of the match as they were in numerical superiority.
Tenerife and Las Palmas were eager to open the scoring in the initial moments of the match. Only three minutes had elapsed when the pass from Pedri’s midfield was controlled by Cristian Cedrés who did not finish correctly in his attempt to score when sending the ball out. The aftershock came a minute after a service from Malbasic’s left found Suso’s right boot. The captain executed a volley that went to the side of Josep Martínez’s goal net.
In the eleventh of the first act the locals tried with a strategy move. A foul by Milla was headed by Carlos Ruiz so that the ball went over the crossbar of the yellow goal. Tenerife showed their desire to take the initiative on the scoreboard, taking the handle of the game while Pepe Mel’s team waited in defense in search of possible cons.
But the visitors were able to score on set pieces. A foul executed by the right was headed by Cedres and Ortolá put a prodigious hand sending the ball into the crossbar so that Luís Pérez sent a corner in the rebound. Las Palmas was looking for the immediate vicinity of the area and the domain was again alternate at the equator of the first half.
Both teams left the resolution of the match for the second part after a first forty-five minutes of alternate control and with great respect. It was as the second part began, with two teams seeking to impose their game on the rival.
In the fourteenth of the second half it was Malbasic who controlled a ball on the right to execute a cross into the area where Alex Bermejo headed innocently without causing problems for Josep. The reactions could come from the bench with the substitutions in either team, although Tenerife began to falter in the engine room and Las Palmas closed in on the locals in their own area.
Evidence of the harassment from Gran Canaria was the opportunity that Kirian had that he tried from the front after a touch move by the yellow team. The attempt went slightly high but those of Pepe Mel put before the ropes the Blue and Whites, who received the encouragement of the public to seek the resurgence of the locals.
López Garai was the first to move tab with the entry of the Argentine Ramón Miérez. The last reinforcement of the Tenerife team sought to reactivate their teammates while in Las Palmas Drolé was the player with whom they sought to reactivate offensive actions.
But the lack of maturity came from Luís Milla. The Madrid player hunted Pedri in the desire to steal a ball and the referee did not think twice: direct red and fifteen minutes in numerical inferiority against a team that grew as the minutes passed.
Seeing the numerical superiority, Mel sought to burn the ships, offensively rethinking the scheme on the green with the entry of Srnic by the injured Mauricio Lemos. It was precisely the last refreshment from the bench that had the option of scoring nine minutes to go but was met by a successful Ortolá. Before it had been Drolé who headed after service from the right although his attempt did not find a final finisher.
The inaccuracies continued in Tenerife and five minutes from the end a misunderstanding between Isma López and Ortolá could cost the locals dearly because the goalkeeper, if he had not extended his right leg, would have left Rubén Castro alone.
And in the epilogue the locals received the blessing from the VAR. A service hung in the area was headed by Drolé, who yielded to Rubén Castro. The striker from Gran Canaria was subject to a maximum penalty by Undabarrena although the Ivorian player found himself in an anti-regulatory position so the referee corrected his previous decision.
In the discount was Isma López who tried with her left leg so that the ball was licking the right post of Josep Martínez. The game did not have more and both teams shared the points in a game where the goal was missing.
