Berlin (dpa) – Bayer Leverkusen relies on Torgarant Moussa Diaby in a duel with the front runner, for Hertha manager Fredi Bobic there is a reunion. At VfL Bochum defender Maxim Leitsch is in focus after a mistake in the DFB Cup.
Six players to look out for on Saturday, matchday 25 of the Bundesliga:
FC Bayern Munich – Bayer Leverkusen (3.30 p.m.)
Moussa Diaby: In the second half of the season only Robert Lewandowski is more accurate than Moussa Diaby. The Leverkusen striker shines with seven goals in the second half of the season – just two fewer than Bayern’s super striker. Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane praised the Frenchman on Friday. “He has high skills in the degree, in dribbling, can play free.” He is also willing to take responsibility, self-critical and very ambitious. But the 22-year-old doesn’t do one thing so well. “Moussa is everything, but certainly not a defensive specialist,” Seoane said with a smile.
RB Leipzig – SC Freiburg (3.30 p.m.)
Christian Streich: Coach Christian Streich considers a record set by his predecessor to be unattainable. Volker Finke coached SC Freiburg for 16 years and won 104 times in the Bundesliga. Streich doesn’t think he’s been in charge of the sports club for that long. He could at least catch up with a win at RB Leipzig after victories. However, the 56-year-old is not very interested in chasing a record, although SC is having its best season under Streich with 40 points after 24 games and reaching the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. The coach also doesn’t think much of a new goal after reaching the 40-point mark. He remains true to his line and says in all modesty: “We have never won in Leipzig, that would be something.”
VfL Wolfsburg – 1. FC Union Berlin (3.30 p.m.)
Max Kruse: The striker meets his former club for the first time five weeks after moving to VfL. Kruse played 38 Bundesliga games for Union. He scored 16 goals and is the top scorer for the Irons in the Bundesliga. The 33-year-old Kruse left 1. FC Union on January 30 because of a strained relationship with coach Urs Fischer. According to Wolfsburg’s coach Florian Kohfeldt, it is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage that Kruse knows the Berliners so well. “You know what the others are doing. But the others also know what he’s doing, »said Kohfeldt.
Hertha BSC – Eintracht Frankfurt (3.30 p.m.)
Fredi Bobic: Blueprint meets original – By last summer, Fredi Bobic had built up the relegation candidate Frankfurt to an international starter within five years before moving from the Main to the Spree, where the 50-year-old is expected to follow a similar path. It’s nice to see familiar faces, said the former national striker, who considers the five years of Eintracht “an exciting time”. The manager also expects that at Hertha, especially when Bobic’s former club goes home with three points, which the Hessians had managed to do three times in the last four appearances in the Olympic Stadium. Bobic himself refers to the first leg in the duel between the two teams that have lost the last three games. In mid-October, the blueprint beat the original 2-1.
VfL Bochum – SpVgg Greuther Fürth (3.30 p.m.)
Maxim Leitsch: Maxim Leitsch can be sure of the support of his coach and his teammates. The 23-year-old defender is particularly in focus this weekend after his crucial error in the DFB-Pokal elimination against SC Freiburg on Wednesday in the last minute of extra time. “Leitschi has played a flawless season so far,” said VfL coach Thomas Reis, who added with a smile: “Leitschi has to go through it, it won’t be the last mistake that happens to a player.”
VfB Stuttgart – Borussia Mönchengladbach (6.30 p.m.)
Sasa Kalajdzic: The Austrian national striker is Stuttgart’s greatest hope in the fight against relegation, but has also caused some concerns recently. Due to calf problems, he didn’t play at all against Bochum (1-1) and only played one half against Hoffenheim (1-2). The 24-year-old is apparently considering saying goodbye in the summer. The talks about an extension of his contract, which ends in 2023, have been postponed, the “kicker” reported. In view of VfB’s uncertain sporting situation, Kalajdzic does not want to commit himself at the moment. He is again an option for the starting XI against Gladbach. If he should lead VfB out below, Kalajdzic has to improve.
