According to the media, the Bundesliga can look forward to two big names in international football: João Cancelo and Isco are approaching. How useful would these transfers be?
Isco has won the Champions League five times with Real Madrid, he has been club world champion four times, Spanish champion three times and cup winner once. The Spanish playmaker has scored 12 goals in 38 international matches.
But they didn’t want him with the “Royal” last summer, and his contract with FC Sevilla was also terminated after just four and a half months.
Trimmel writes Isco on Insta
According to media reports, Isco, as a non-club professional who does not cost a fee, should now agree with Union Berlin – it would undoubtedly be a transfer sensation. The Spanish radio stations “Cope” and “Sky” reported on Monday (01/30/2023) that Isco would sign with Union until the end of the season with an option for another season.
Union captain Christopher Trimmel picked up the rumors after the 2-0 win in the derby at Hertha BSC and wrote on Instagram: “This win is for you, Isco.” The Spaniard reacted immediately and commented on the Trimmel greeting with a muscle emoji.
Five positions in six games
The exciting question is what else Isco can do. At Sevilla it was not the world what he delivered: zero goals and two assists in twelve appearances. After all, he scored one goal in the Champions League, in a 3-0 win over FC Copenhagen.
A look at the many positions in which he was pushed back and forth with the Andalusians shows the helplessness in dealing with Isco: In the six games in the premier class alone he played once as a center forward, twice as a left winger, once as a right winger, once on the ten and once on the eight.
Cancelo has played for numerous top clubs
It is therefore difficult to say who should tremble at Union before Isco: somehow everyone and somehow nobody. What he would certainly bring with him is top quality football, outstanding experience and a great winning gene.
The Bavarians are hoping for a lot of these qualities from João Cancelo, who was in Munich for a medical check-up on Monday evening. The 41-time Portugal international defender has played for all the big clubs in Europe, most recently at Manchester CityJuventus, Inter Milan, FC Valencia and Benfica Lisbon.
Joao Cancelo is set to move from Manchester City to Bayern Munich.
City paid 65 million euros
Cancelo still has a contract with City until 2027, and his last transfer cost him a whopping 65 million euros. According to the media, Bayern should first borrow him, but then have a purchase option that is said to be even 70 million euros.
Cancelo recently had a difficult time with Pep Guardiola, he also switched constantly, was sometimes right-back and sometimes left-back and often just a substitute.
Transfer would make sense
However, it is quite understandable that the Munich team should strengthen themselves with a player who can play both positions: Lucas Hernández will be out for a few more months with a cruciate ligament rupture, Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui suffers from an inflammation of the pericardium.
There is always speculation that former world champion Benjamin Pavard, who is tied until 2024, could possibly leave Munich in the summer.
