Soccer – Berlin – Ex-presenter Gaby Papenburg wants to be BFV President – Sport

Berlin (dpa / bb) – The former “ran” presenter Gaby Papenburg (60) wants to become president of the Berlin Football Association and replace incumbent Bernd Schultz. She recently “gained the impression that the majority of the BFV had a great desire for change,” wrote Papenburg on Saturday in a letter to Berlin clubs that was available to the German Press Agency. Papenburg is already involved in various bodies of the BFV, and she is also a member of the supervisory board of the handball Bundesliga team THW Kiel.

“I would like to design and not manage and also go a new way,” said Papenburg in the evening on request. She sees herself as a team player and relies on the cooperation of the members of the Berlin clubs. Papenburg has lived in the capital since 1998 and, according to the company, works as a moderator and business coach in the areas of media, marketing and public image.

“I believe in the power of football beyond commercial interests. In its social and societal importance for the development of team spirit, fairness and other important values,” wrote Papenburg. The coronavirus pandemic “led to a state of shock in amateur sport. I want to solve this by actively representing the interests of the Berlin clubs with a sustainable concept. In this respect, I see myself more as a striker than a defender,” wrote Papenburg.
