‘Home’: Spoiler

Anyone who thought that the split between Viv (Lynn Van den Broeck) and Lowie (Mathias Vergels) after their altercation in ‘Thuis’ was only temporary should reconsider. The makers have given a clear hint for that. In the beginning, the two lovebirds were kissing until recently and can therefore be seen together in the picture. In the modified opening images they only appear separately. A spoiler?

‘Home’: Stink for thanks

Annick Segal (Rosa) is deeply disappointed by the job insecurity created by VRT’s plans to outsource ‘Thuis’ to an external production house in the future. That was told in the Flemish parliament, where the public broadcaster’s savings plan was debated. Vooruit MP Katia Segers said there: “Two weeks ago there was an action at Studio Manhattan in Leuven. I also went there and talked to the people of ‘Thuis’, including Annick Segal, who plays Rosa. It was a very emotional conversation, as she said that during corona they did everything they could to ensure that not a single episode was dropped on TV. However, there were several corona outbreaks in the team. They also had to work with wide-angle lenses to ensure social distancing. They really did everything they could to keep producing ‘Home’. Not a single day has been missed, despite the illnesses of some important actors. What they wanted is a pat on the back and not a ‘stink of thanks’.”

‘Family’ actress Belinda Mercedes Voorspoels (Samira) has posted a spectacular photo of her summer haircut on social media. Her luscious curly hair is completely braided and gone, giving her the appearance of having an ultra-short haircut. “My wig is in the wash,” she said with a wink when commenting on the selfie.

Erik Goossens (54) continues to amaze. More than 20 years after the end of Leopold 3, the singer/presenter/actor recently released a new single. This week he also picks up the thread of his acting career, because he shows up in ‘Thuis’. “I was charmed when they called me, but not really surprised,” he says. “After all, I had been contacted before for a guest role. I had shown interest at the time, but the timing didn’t suit me. Now it is perfect. I recently started my own booking and management agency and I want to set a good example for my artists and be more in the picture as a performer. In addition, I was offered this role without having to audition.”

Erik will play Alexander, an ambitious fellow student of Tom and Peter. “My character has risen to a judge and has a preference for the upper class. He owes his nickname, Adje, to the many ad fundums he drank as a student. Alexander goes through life jovially and with a smile, but also has a high opinion of himself. Though he is gallant. In every company he indeed likes to draw attention to himself and he especially has an eye for feminine beauty. My first day of recording was quite surprising, because there was a depressed funeral mood. Though I wasn’t to blame for that. I had just watched my first scene, when everyone was called together and received the news that the VRT had put a savings plan on the table. It also stated, among other things, that ‘Thuis’ would be outsourced to an external production house, which caused consternation, uncertainty and unrest. Of course nothing was recorded that day. I thought the situation was annoying, but I couldn’t do anything about it.”

That was a downer for Erik. “Sure, because I had been looking forward to my debut. I had arrived on set that morning nervous, but felt from the first second that I had entered an insanely well-running machine. I was received very friendly. By everyone. Although I also felt like the odd one out, because I still had everything to learn. Besides, I’m still lost in the TV studio and the catacombs with all the boxes. But from that first day, I noticed the habituality with which ‘Home’ is made. Everyone is very professional and disciplined. Being able to participate in that is really a blessing.”

‘Familie’: Roadtrip

Ludo Hellinx (67), who disappeared from ‘Family’ as Patrick earlier this season, is currently enjoying a tour of France. “I have had a campervan for three years, which my wife and I like to travel around Europe with,” he said before he left. “A handy formula, because we have everything with us: a kitchen, bed and shower. I am the driver and my wife maps out the route. Last year we traveled through Sweden for a month. We planned a similar trip through France in May, but it had to be postponed because my wife was convalescing after a ruptured Achilles tendon.” Ludo posted a selfie from Yport near Le Havre and announced that the road trip will last until July 2. “Officially I’m retired now, but I don’t feel like going all out. The desire to continue working as an actor is still great. My agenda is empty, however, and I don’t mind at all. The first days after my goodbye I felt really bad because of this. And at times the negative thought overcomes me: ‘Is my career really over now?’ My wife then tries to cheer me up: ‘Shut up, it’s going to get loose’. I hope something else comes my way.”

‘Home’: Not a fan

In ‘Thuis’ the children Hannah, Leo and Yasmine were treated to a spaghetti feast in the Withoeve by their babysitters Britney and Zihame during Bob and Tamara’s wedding. The three top actors were served a plate of pasta, but did not really have to eat the spaghetti. Their mouths were smeared with ketchup, as if it had tasted good. But one of the three was clearly not a fan of that.

In ‘Family’ he has his hands full as Koen with the psychological packing of Veronique (Sandrine André), but at home all his attention is focused on his DIY work. Sieg De Donder can apparently install everything, even his electricity. ‘To Build a house? I can do that! Want to connect our closet? Also! I’ve only gotten one shock. Hopefully everything works. If not, it’s back with flashlight or candle,” he shared with his followers on social media.

Summer has yet to come, but ‘Home’ actress Leen Dendievel (Kaat) is already thinking about Christmas. She has committed herself to ‘Ne Witige Kerst’, the new comedy by the Sven De Ridder Company, which will be on the bill in the Fakkeltheater from 8 December to 8 January. Also in the cast: Céline Verbeeck, who is best known as Keelin in ‘Nachtwacht’, but who also guest-starred as Anja in ‘Thuis’ in 2011. Info: svenderiddercompany.be.

’Neighbours’: Body double

In Australia, fans of ‘Neighbours’ are divided on bizarre news about the final week that was canned last week and will be broadcast on August 1. One of the more than 20 characters who make a comeback in the final episodes turns out to have already died earlier in the series. Still, Rob Mills (as Finn) was expected to return to the set. Kylie Minogue (Charlotte) was also there, but was only present for half a day with Jason Donovan (Scott). A body double was used for her other scenes. There is only one Kylie, so there will be several Charlenes. The production house is also receiving a lot of criticism, because it became known that it only wants to pay half of the severance payments for the permanent cast and crew.
